Actually... this book is a bit silly! But I enjoyed it :-)

I read The Dark Age -- perhaps Harding's first book -- a couple of months ago. It was also silly but fun. Gene of Isis is similar -- feisty heroine, heroic handsome lover, mystic adventures with no chance of the heroine being seriously hurt -- but this is a better written book. So Harding has stayed with the genre and improved her writing.

Now I think of it... There is an interesting difference between Dark Age and Isis... Dark Age has one heroine who becomes immortal and then reappears, at different historical eras, to fall in love with the reincarnated hero. Isis, however, has a series of heroines. They are of the same bloodline, spread across history. With a series of lovers and husbands, one of whom stays alive for the 800 odd years of the story.

Perhaps Harding likes the idea of eternal love!

Isis also has more sex scenes. So Harding is no longer writing for young girls. More for young women. I don't fit into either category. Still, I enjoyed this book!

Take a deep breath. Forget reality. Enjoy an entertaining book!
